TSDS PEIMS is a cornerstone of the Texas Student Data System, an innovative initiative to make data submission easier, more consistent, and more useful to Texas school districts and charter schools. TSDS PEIMS was designed to simplify and improve the PEIMS submission process for this critical data collection program.

One of the biggest improvements for users is that the navigation was completely redesigned to make it easier to toggle between school years, collections, and campuses without having to leave the page and with minimal clicks.

Similarly, the menu organization follows the flow of the submission process, from promoting data, to validating it, to completing and reporting to help new users orient themselves quickly.

TSDS PEIMS uses standard TSDS interface elements, including the header components, button design, and slide-out panels, meaning that a user who is familiar with other TSDS applications can begin using PEIMS with minimal ramp-up time.

In addition, TSDS PEIMS was designed to provide users with more flexibility than the legacy system, allowing them to access their data however they need it.  Unlike the old EDIT+ PEIMS, in TSDS data searches present the user's information in a lucid, compact format that the user can export via CSV, XLS, or PDF.

Similarly, the system's comprehensive set of reports includes improved navigation with explanatory text, more parameters for report flexibility, and different export options based on content.

TEA also provides increased automation to streamline the submission process. Districts can now empower their campuses to load data, and the districts can review, use, or reject that data as needed. "Verified" flags allow users to lock data that is ready for submission so that multiple users can work on a submission without stepping on each other's toes.  And the extension request process has been automated to provide faster service and improved accountability.

Overall, the PEIMS application has been thoughtfully and carefully redesigned to save users time, help ensure data accuracy, and maximize flexibility.
